Delegates of the United Nations and the Bretton Woods
institutions, as well as corporate executives and
representatives of "civil society," will meet in June 2001 under
the auspices of the Financing for Development Coordinating
Secretariat of the United Nations (FfD).
According to the FfD Web site, the purpose of the meeting is
to "consider national, international and systemic issues relating
to financing for development in a holistic manner in the context
of globalisation and interdependence."
The FfP Preparatory Committee prepared a list of
Non-Governmental Organizations that will be allowed to
participate on October 30. Representatives of "civil society"
were selected on November 6 and 7, and representatives of
the business world were picked on November 11 and 12.
The committee will meet again on November 16 to select a
date, format and location for the event.
