An interesting discussion was held in conjunction with the S26 protests in Prague at San Francisco's New College. Panelists discussed the use of non-violence in protest. Other topics discussed were race and context of property destruction as non-violent protest. The Animal Liberation Front activist pointed out that sometimes property damage is a necessity in opposing the violence of the corporations that are damaging the environment, species and humanity.

Arson is prosecuted with a double standard. I have yet to hear of a property owner/landlord in San Francisco who has been charged or sentenced for torching property. There have been many SRO torchings to drive out low-income residents, and there was the spectacular blaze at the old laundry on 17th Street to save demolition costs. There are $5,000/month lofts there now. Bravo Animal Rights activists!
