Just Cause Oakland is fighting for the same protection that other cities in the Bay Area get: just cause eviction laws. This means that landlords need to have a reason to evict, like failure to pay rent or something like that. Currently, Oakland landlords (including the mayor) can evict without just cause. Oakland tenants are experiencing forced relocation because landlords can send them packing without any legal restraint. See our website for more information and ways to fight back.
