BACKGROUND:
Monday, Americans from all over the country will be gathering on
Capitol
Hill to deliver postcards to their Senators from constituents back home
urging them to oppose the discriminatory Federal Marriage Amendment and
get back to the business of dealing with the critical issues facing the
country. The day will kick-off with a press conference with
constituents
from across the country urging the Senate leadership to stop playing
politics with this divisive, discriminatory amendment and get back to
work for the American people.
The Human Rights Campaign is the largest national lesbian, gay,
bisexual
and transgender political organization with members throughout the
country. It effectively lobbies Congress, provides campaign support and
educates the public to ensure that LGBT Americans can be open, honest
and safe at home, at work and in the community.
