Foster Farms issues 'cease and desist' order to EBAA

by East Bay Animal Advocates
Nearly six months since EBAA's Foster Compassion Campaign began, Foster Farms (the entity that harms the largest amount of animals in the Western United States) yesterday finally issued a directed response to our cruelty investigation (http://www.fosterfacts.net) in the form of a 'cease and desist' order. The poultry company claims that EBAA is misusing its intellectual property rights. Foster Farms is represented by Howrey LLP; EBAA is represented by Vicki Steiner of Los Angeles.

Foster Farms Letter reads:
"Foster Farms demands that EBAA immediately cancel or transfer the fosterfacts.net website to Foster Farms" by March 10. As well, FF is urging EBAA to "cease and desist from publishing false or misleading information about Foster Farms' poultry care, trade, and labor practices."

If EBAA does not meet these demands, the letter reads:
"Foster Farms will be forced to pursue its remedies at law and equity to protect its valuable intellectual property rights."

It is fair to say that Foster Farms' feathers are ruffled.
