by dave id
For the 20th annual Great American Meatout, East Bay Animal Advocates sponsored a vegetarian feed-in in front of the Burger King at 13th and Broadway in Oakland.

Marking the 20th anniversary of the Meatout (http://www.meatout.org/), faux turkey was served to passers-by with a generous helping of information on the benefits of vegetarianism for our health, the animals, and our environment. A KPFA reporter was present to make an audio record of the event, conducting interviews with the public for a piece on the Meatout in their 6pm news broadcast on 94.1 (http://kpfa.org/). East Bay Animal Advocates sponsors feed-ins every month but this one was timed to coincide with Great American Meatout events in all 50 states, March 20th, 2005.

KPFA's piece on the Great American Meatout was to focus on the adverse health effects of a meat-based diet and the environmental damage wrought by industrial (or "factory") farming of animals

this man was quoted as saying he loved hamburgers but if people kept making food as good as this faux turkey he might be willing to give vegetarianism a try
