Surprisingly good news!

I spoke with Jay today, and he is opposed to foie gras production. He does not want it on the menu, however, he said the decision does not rest solely on him (chefs and owners have a say as well). He mentioned your email, Paris, and said that he did have the video and a lot of information on foie gras production.

Jay is holding a meeting TONIGHT with all of his main staff (including the chef), to discuss whether foie gras should be kept on the menu.
Jay asked about Farm Sanctuary, and I directed him to our main site and the NoFoieGras site. He said he will print out pages from that site for the meeting tonight, along with the brochures and video he received.

Jay was very nice, very receptive, and genuinely seems to want to take it off. He admitted that it was on the menu right now, but said he does not think that is the "right decision." He took my phone number, and said he would call me to let me know how things go with the meeting and what their decision is on this issue.

I think for right now, we should hold off on a demo. Since things are moving in a positive direction, I think we should keep the correspondence positive too. If people wanted to do something, perhaps stopping by and politely encouraging Jay to take it off the menu would be good. But again, I think we need to keep the mood positive.

In other surprising news, Rick DID return my call, but called after I had gone to bed last night (sigh, east coast/west coast times...). I called him back today but had to leave a message. Let's hope my conversation with him goes just as well or better!
