DAAA Benefit Shut Down by Ceres Police

by DAAA Collective (modanarcho [at] yahoo.com)
Ceres Police shut down the DAAA Collective beneift show on Oct. 16th after reading about it on DAAA website.
The benefit show on the 16th was a great success, and thanks to everyone who came out. About 20$ each for Ceres and Modesto was earned, and Ceres Food Not Bombs got a whole box full of canned food.

Two bands got through playing by the time the police arrived. What was first thought to have been a call made by an angry neighbor, was actually the work of Ceres Police responding to the DAAA Collective website. The police officer that arrived stated that the Ceres Police had heard about the show over the internet (http://www.modanarcho.tk), and that they were there to shut the show down because we didn't have a permit. Harassment of Ceres Food Not Bombs has still not stopped, and Ceres Police continue to monitor and drive by during their food sharing events. This lastest attempt to halt organizing shows how far the police will go to stop grassroots anarchist organizing.

In fact, you just need a permit to charge money at the door, which would have been a problem, except we were asking for donations. As the police came in, the last song was played by the last band.

Stop all harassment of anti-authoritarian activists!
