Call for a Radical Tejas Feeder March as part of the August 29 UFPJ March

by Tejas Bloc
As part of United For Peace and Justice in New York on August 29th, the
newly formed radical Tejas Bloc is forming a feeder march to join the
larger UFPJ march. We will meet at the southeast corner (West 4th and
Washington Square Park) of Washington Square park meet at 10 am. We will
march at 11 am and rally with the greater march by noon. We will rally
behind the 2 following banners --the picture of Texas with a dove flying
out, and messaged with "We don't want him either" and the picture of a
horse-backed rider roping elephants messaged with "Tejanos encuentra
Imperio".

Come to the Republican National Convention and bring your creative,
vigorous resistance. Tejas communities have mobilized to get activists
and ordinary citizens from all over the state to New York City to say a
resounding "NO" to the Bush Agenda. On August 29th, we will march as a
bloc to voice our dissent to Bush-Cheney junta's policies of war, hate,
repression and lies. While the war in Iraq is the most visible outcome of
the Bush-Cheney plan of hate, repression and lies we march in opposition
to their blatant disrespect for, and degradation of, the environment,
international law, civil liberties, economic justice and democracy.

THE RADICAL TEJAS BLOC CALL TO ACTION

A statewide call to mobilize for the Republican National Convention in New
York City this August.

A Tejas contingent is forming to join hundreds of thousands in New York to
say "No" to the Bush Agenda of corporate globalization and militarism!
We're part of a new spirit of resistance that is rising as people across
the country are directing their energy toward New York this summer,
preparing for a massive mobilization at the Republican National Convention
from August 30 to September 2, 2004. We want to mobilize our communities
in Tejas to go to New York and show our opposition to George Bush and his
Republican friends. Join us!

Tejas activists are calling for regional organizing meetings and
spokescouncil meetings to better mobilize and coordinate a radical Tejas
Bloc. If you or your affinity group or your organization are interested in
going to New York and joining in a radical Tejas Bloc and showing the
world that not everyone in Tejas agrees with the the Bush administration
ravaging the world with war and corporate globalization, then get involved
NOW!!! Attend or organize a planning meeting and help spread the word!

Why should Tejas come to New York to mobilize against the RNC? Many of the
policies we see coming from the Bush administration were developed and
refined in Texas. We're intimately familiar with corporate influence in
government (Enron), bloodlust (executions), rollbacks on clean air laws
and opening public lands to industry, attacks on women's reproductive
rights, privatization and standardization of the public school curriculum,
and cuts in social services. Many of Bush's government cronies hail from
Texas. Let's show the world resistance is alive in Bush's home state.

Now on national level, the Bush administration makes more clear every day
that its allegiance is not to its citizens, but to a handful of
corporations and wealthy elites. We see the brutality of state power in
the wholesale dismantling of our civil rights, intensified harassment and
deportation of immigrants, increasing state-sanctioned killing and police
brutality, military recruiters in our schools. If we are lucky enough to
have a job, we work more and more hours for less and less money, and lack
affordable healthcare and housing. We see fewer and fewer trees.

Wealth, power, and decision-making has been concentrated in the hands of
fewer and fewer people, while more and more of us struggle to get by.

Corporate globalization and militarism have brought widening poverty,
environmental devastation, eroding human rights and workers' rights
worldwide. Using the terrible attacks of September 2001 as a pretext to
invade Afghanistan and Iraq, the Bush administration has deployed the US
military the drive to expand and entrench the interests of global
corporations. The torture of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay and Abu Graib has
made it clear exactly how far the Bush administration will go to make the
world safe for corporations.

Get Involved Today! This is the time to make your voice heard!! This is
the time to say Another World Must Be Possible and We Will Make It, Not
Bush, Not Kerry and Not Their Corporate Economic Structure!!!! Don't Just
Vote, Direct Action Now!!!!!
