Multitude gathers in Nablus against the wall.
Nablus Action as part of Day of Rage against the Apartheid Wall
The multitude gathered in Nablus against the wall.
Thousands of people went out into the streets this morning in Nablus to say no to the Separation Wall, including Palestinian organisations representing doctors, students, teachers, workers, engineers, artists, etc.
They assembled crowd started gathering around 10:00 am this moorning, with a general strike declared that left all shops, schools, and universities closed. All the people in Nablus were brought together in their opposition to the wall and to demand from the International Court of Justice in the Hague to tell the Israeli goverment to stop building the wall and tear it down.
All the Palestinian organisations insisted that they will fight against the wall and all the people agree with them because the wall will further prevent the Palestinians from exercising the simple right to move freely on their own land.
Many speakers insisted that the wall was never intended for security but for the confiscation of Palestinian lands and feilds. Sharon and his goverment aim to make the Palestinians live in seperated prisons so they will not be able to move which will create pressure for them to leave.
The people know what Sharon's plans are and they will not be fooled again. They will stay and fight against the wall whatever the price. What the israelis are doing is completely against human rights, justice and international law. The seakers insisted that Palestinians will not agree to sign any agreement without first destroying the wall and building instead a bridge of trust between the two peoples.
After the action a small group of Palestinians and peace activists went to the Huwara checkpoint to draw attention to the other barriers that limit movement in the Occupied Territories. The small, but spirited demonstration quickly drew the attention of IOF soldiers and Border Security guards who gave the group a seven minute ultimatum to leave or risk arrest. The group withdrew satisfied that a presence had been made at one of the most notorious checkpoints in the West Bank.
