On July 5, 2003, we will have the opportunity to view the videos, "SF Labor on the March" and "SF Hotel Workers Strike of 1941" by Lester Balog. This historic footage shows the 1941 San Francisco Labor Day march and the 1941 hotel workers' strike.

We will also have the opportunity to view a 60-minute movie entitled "Hansel Mieth-Vagabond Photographer."
Hansel Mieth, an immigrant photographer escaping Germany arrived in San Francisco in the midst of the labor struggles during the 1930s. Despite being one of the few women photographers in the United States, Ms. Mieth stood her ground and won the respect of Harry Bridges and the working people she filmed. Hansel, and her husband, Otto Hegel, joined the struggle for workers' and human rights in the United States from the docks of San Francisco to Heart Mountain concentration camp for Japanese Americans.
