Maxxam Greeted by Protests in Houston

An account of the Maxxam Shareholder meeting in southwest Houston, and the protesters that greeted and participated in it.
Activists mingled with African-American workers and teachers outside of the Power Center, located in a shopping strip in southwest Houston, this Wednesday while protesting the Maxxam Shareholder meeting that was taking place inside. During the meeting many dissident shareholders voted for proposals encouraging more ecologically responsible logging practices in the Headwaters forest of Northern California, while protesters asked pointed questions and even played a song for the multi-national corporation
