Hundreds of protesters gathered in solidarity outside the Oakland Police Department to voice their anger over the death of Jamil Wheatfall at the hands of the Oakland Police.

On April 14th of 2001- Jamil Wheatfall, a 36 year old African American man, was beaten to death by six OPD officers. He was unarmed when witnesses say the police knocked him to the ground and began to beat him. After being hit and kicked repeatedly by the six officers, Wheatfall stopped breathing and could not be resuscitated.
