Citizens rallied at Pacific Gas & Electric headquarters in San Francisco to demand clean energy, public control of the power grid, and a halt to rate hikes. Calling for massive "fiscal disobedience," protesters pledged to not pay the recent 9% rate increase. Video, 12 minutes.
On Tuesday, Jan 9 at noon, the SF Green Party, Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice, Global Exchange, Bayview Hunters Point Community Advocates, Literacy for Environmental Justice, International Action Center, and Midway Residents for Environmental Justice held an emergency protest at PG&E headquarters in San Francisco, at Market and Beale Streets.
The message:
+ Resist the unjust PG&E rate hike;
+ Support clean renewable energy;
+ Support energy conservation & efficiency; and
+ Stop PG&E's pollution of our communities, including Bayview Hunters Point and Midway Village.
