IYSSE mounts campaign against UC Berkeley police censorship
In response to claims that new policies at UC Berkeley have made "free speech available to only those that the police deem safe or those wealthy enough to pay for it,” the university said it would modify its policy to make it less onerous. The fundamental thrust of the policy remains unchanged, however. Student groups can still be required to pay the police if they wish to hold a meeting....

Militarism and its complicities
Though it proclaims itself against police militarization, Berkeley City Council has renewed three militarizing federal relationships: the Fusion Center (NCRIC), urban surveillence technology, and Project 1033. It apparently does not see how these projects work together, nor that they are pro-militarist. And in its conceit, it thinks it can control them each separately. That is a mistake....
