The 4th anniversary of the US-led war on Iraq is being commemorated this weekend. Local vigils took place on Friday and Saturday, and a big ANSWER march is taking place in San Francisco on Sunday. 2007 is the 40th anniversary of the historic 1967 anti-war march to the Pentagon during the Vietnam War. On Saturday March 17th, people from around the country gathered in Washington, DC to march on the Pentagon and demand that the US get out of Iraq now. ANSWER says, "The message of the 1967 march was 'From Protest to Resistance,' and marked a turning point in the development of a countrywide mass movement" (imc_photo.gif Photos: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 ). There were also other protests around the country in Philadelphia, New York City, Ann Arbor, Oklahoma City, Portland, Colorado Springs, Houston, Rochester, Brussels Belgium, Melbourne Australia, Perth Australia, Sydney Australia, Gothenburg Sweden, Tokyo Japan and Madrid Spain.

On Friday, a Christian Peace Witness for Iraq rally, march, and prayer vigil was held at 3:00pm in San Francisco's Boedekker Park (Jones St. @ Eddy St.). A Christian Peace Witness for Iraq candlelight vigil was held on Friday night at 7pm in Santa Cruz.
