female interrogators stripped themselves,
to shame male Muslim prisoners

In Abu Ghraib and elsewhere, U.S. authorities have stripped male Muslim prisoners naked,
sometimes when visible to Western women, in order to torture the
prisoners psychologically
(by exploiting their cultural and religious erotophobia, nudophobia, machismo, etc.).

There have also been some claims by ex-prisoners, not proven, that female interrogators have partially undressed, perhaps by removing their own shirts and appearing in a brassiere, in order to shame and destabilize Muslim men.

Here's an extreme form of this claim, made recently
by Pakistani ex-prisoner Khalil-ur Rahman, 21,
a self-professed jihadi.

Frankly, I don't believe his story.
(After all, since he's avowedly willing to kill or die for his cause,
why would he be unwilling to lie for his cause?)

So what could be newsworthy about presumably false propaganda?

For me, it's amazing that this jihadi apparently believes
that his fellow Pakistanis will buy his bizarre story.
This suggests that the Pakistani public, or part of it,
may already have wildly exagerrated prejudices about U.S. women.
And perhaps especially about U.S. military women. ]

LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) --


Pakistanis freed from Guantanamo Bay claimed they saw American interrogators throw, tear and stand on copies of Islam's holy book, and one former detainee said naked women sat on prisoners' chests during questioning.

" ..... one of the freed men, Khalil-ur Rahman, 21, from the eastern town of Gujrat,
said he wouldn't hesitate to fight again. "If I get a chance to fight jihad again, I will definitely go.
I will not miss it," he said.


Rahman claimed female interrogators at Guantanamo stripped in front of prisoners
despite pleas for them not to —
echoing allegations leveled by other inmates,
although not by the other five inmates who spoke to AP on Monday.


"Girls would interrogate us.
They would take off their clothes in front of us.
They would make different poses in front of us
and they would sit on our chests," said Rahman.
"This was shameful."
