Alleged public safety advocate misrepresents herself and her organizations

by John Cohen-Colby
On October 22nd, 2015, Take Back Santa Cruz held a so called “Public Safety Forum” headlining "well known Public Safety Advocate” Lynne Brown. Looking into Ms. Brown and her organizations indicate she is profiting off misrepresentations.

Lynne Brown presents her organization “The Electric Blue Foundation (Coalition)” as a legal entity. To quote from its website, which includes a GoFundMe campaign.

https://www.gofundme.com/electricblue

https://electricbluefoundation.wordpress.com/2015/10/12/is-there-a-war-on-americas-law-enforcement-profession/

“Since August of 2014, when a young man attacked a law enforcement officer in Ferguson, Missouri, and was killed in the struggle, there has been a war on America’s law enforcement profession.  I will not name the young man in that case nor will I name the officer.  But unless you’ve been living far outside civilization, you know the case I am referring to.

Several other cases have become fodder for the media, for people who make money off of conflict and for certain shameless politicians. According to these folks, it seems that every time a police officer, especially a white male police officer, shoots and kills or wounds a suspect, particularly a black suspect, the causative factor is that the officer is an abusive, racist, power-hungry individual bent on gunning down a black man (in front of witnesses who are undoubtedly filming the entire incident I might add).  Of course, the popular narrative uses the word “allegedly” in reference to the suspect’s attempts to flee the officer, resist arrest or out-and-out attack the officer.  But what is equally glaring is the absence of the word in reference to the officer’s actions.  An officer’s right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law is being violated every day by our profound media, keyboard warriors and those with a grudge against all forms of authority.”

Ironically Ms. Brown takes in money, apparently for speaking and through this GoFundMe campaign, yet is not a lobbyist; her organizations are not legal entities. She seems to be profiting from excusing police brutality.

The Electric Blue Foundation which her LinkedIn page claims she founded is not registered with the California Secretary of State: it is neither a corporation nor a charity.

Advocates for Public Safety which her (other) LinkedIn page claims she founded is not registered with the California Secretary of State: it is neither a corporation nor a charity.

Lynne Brown is not registered with the California Secretary of State as a lobbyist.

My questions:

1. What exactly is Lynne Brown?
2. What is the Electric Blue Foundation?
3. What is Advocates for Public Safety?

The available information indicates Ms. Brown profits by public speaking, misrepresenting her organizations as legal entities which they are not.

More shadyness brought to you by your fine (non-vigilante, of course) Take Back neighbors? Keep on digging and eventually the dots will be connected! While we're connecting dots here, go have a look at the Take Back founding member's LinkedIn pages and see how they frame their "community group."

To Be Surely Continued (TBSC)...
by R U kidding me?
Since TBSC loves to post photos of people for the sport of public shaming, and A Cube has stated as much on the open SC police FB page, it is no wonder they adore Lynn Brown. This is her FB page with direct links to the Electric Blue sham of an organization https://www.facebook.com/AB109-Shaming-348585248585847/
Facts, data ? Throw out the evidence based best practices when discussing realignment. She actually said, "the Boogey man is coming through your window" or something very close to that effect as well as a few more nuggets of idiocy . It was like a Fox news live performance-no wonder TBSC loves her.

TBSC is effectively a gangstalking organization, pretending to be a nonprofit. To neutralize them, we must understand their structure and methods. As a start, I suggest you read the following links on gangstalking and a blog by a local person who was illegally victimized by the local CHP and their gangstalking supporters (possibly including TBSC):

http://justifiablydisturbedbygangstalking.com/
http://justifiablydisturbedbygangstalking.com/2012/09/03/gangstalking-and-predictive-policing-a-perfect-pair/
http://fightgangstalking.com/

As an unfortunate side-note, UCSC hacktivists have also taken to using the tactics of gangstalking, which, although illegal, have been made more "potent" by the union of technology, sociological theory, and activism. Gangstalking is not limited to one political party or belief system - more people of different stripes are doing it using smartphones, hidden networks, et cetera.

Nonprofits must abide by applicable laws. They must file financial reports annually (IRS Form 990) that include the names of their directors and accountant, along with cash flow data and sources of income. There are several sites online that provide this info free to the public, such as:

https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/search?ntee[id]=&q=&state[id]=CA

I was not able to locate an IRS 990 for TBSC, after searching for 20 minutes or so. Perhaps someone else here knows where it is ? They seem to be obscuring their sources of funds, and what they do with those funds.

Recall that TBSC founder Dexter Emmanuel Cube was sanctioned more than once by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission for unethical business practices, and forced to leave the securities business. That's when he came to Santa Cruz, from New Jersey. Here are (3) documents from the SEC detailing that behavior:

https://www.sec.gov/litigation/admin/33-8202.htm
https://www.sec.gov/news/digest/04-25.txt
https://www.sec.gov/litigation/admin/33-8094.htm

Do the SC police really want to associate with these types of con artists, or are they "in on it" ?

TBSC may have duped some wealthy Si Valley people into giving them money. For example, Gwen Bell, the heiress of early computer guru Gordon Bell and matron of the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, has been seen with TBSC members. Does she know anything of Dexter's past behavior ?

TBSC finances need to be heavily scrutinized - no stone left unturned. The identities and addresses of their members must be published.

In general, nonprofits and other "civic society" groups which associate with/support LEA are havens of illegal activity, because the civilian side can take actions that the uniformed side cannot, and act in conjunction with them secretly. Moreover, it is not difficult to shroud their financial transactions, and they are rarely audited. We are talking about Policeman's Associations, police unions, 11-99 Foundation, and many others of their ilk. They are rarely scrutinized because they claim to act only in support of officers who are harmed in the line of duty - but this is often a false premise.

I would like to take a monent to honor those peace officers who ARE honest and put themselves in harm's way to discourage serious crime. We know there are many of you. But, since 9-11, the military-police-industrial complex has certainly taken advantage of that crisis to mint a fortune, on the backs of everyone else. It's a misallocation of capital, and bad for the productive economy. Never let a good crisis go to waste. Even in Santa Cruz.
