Mission Rally against Police Shooting Tonight (video)

According to local sources (and you can check the corporate news online), a kid was shot at least twice maybe three times in the back running away from undercover SFPD tonight around 8pm. Corporate media is spreading gossip that the kid had a gun (of course) and that he was a "gang member." More news is coming out over time, but I have my severe doubts about the "official story"

Anyway, a group of protesters, some dressed in black (oh no!) marched down Valencia Street to the police station there and spray-pointed the word "killers" poignantly across the front glass door. The door was shoved open my a plain clothes cop who was obviously scared as shit and tried to kick the tagger exchanging paint for physical violence. Nice work SFPD.

Soon there was a sound of dozens of cop cars screeching down Mission to protect their little police branch. The march continued down as the parade of police vehicles followed, obstructing all traffic for many blocks and freaking out the local poets reading on the street corner.

By 11pm police donned full riot gear and formed lines around the BART plaza while people chanted "What Do You Call A Murderer? ...SFPD!" and "Three Times--- Shot Him In The Back!" Crowds formed to watch as people started yelling to "hide your beers" and "the cops have shotguns around the corner!" Many in a very fearful state fled to nearby bars and nightclubs to find solace in their favorite alcoholic beverages. Others stayed outside to discuss the state of affairs in the world while the CBS video crews (finally) showed up to film the customary wingnut yelling at the line of riot police.

It will be interesting to see what happens as more information develops but without video footage from witnesses it is likely the police can make up any story they choose to. As far as the corporate media is concerned, they are saving Facebook tycoons bar hopping on Missions Street from gangbanging machine-gun-toting youth of color.

Now stand your ass up for that national anthem!

I was on Valencia at 7:45 this morning -- and not a single brick-worthy window had been done. The exceptionally loathsome 700-block of Valencia looked completely pristine.

You got an angry mob together, on Friday night, during the dinner hour, and couldn't come up with anything more useful to the working class integrity of the neighborhood and the working class as a whole then targetting a few obvious bank branches down on Mission and 16th. What about $300-a-bottle-of-Italian-Red Locanda????? You overlooked that one big-time.

You guys will do a little harmless anti-cop venting, run out of steam, and then do nothing -- or if you have anything really going on you'll use this jumbo-sized opportunity to rollout the unwelcome mat to the bourgeoisie and make a real sweet gift to one of the last remaining and tremendously beleagured working class areas of the city. What's it going to be? The choice is yours to make. It's time to put up or shut up.

I feel you homie, Mission has changed a lot. Before May Day a group of people smashed a lot of those rich-playground wine club windows...in fact I hear the damage was over $100k. Problem is, Wells Fargo donated that money right back and they were put back up practically overnight.

But doing SOMETHING is better than doing NOTHING. Thats how I feel about. People getting shot and gentrification happening all the time. At least people got off their asses and got off facebook and went outside to do something. But I feel you...especially that new wine club on 18th and Valencia in the new condo complex. It's sickening to look at and the racism and homophobia of those wine-tasting club hoppers is unreal, I hear them spouting shit on the street all the time.

It's a hard time for the Mission, we gotta get off the computers and the ipads and make some social change

smashing the windows didn't do enough. should have burned it down. that would have been better.

Broken windows are better; it communicates the message without -- hopefully -- the danger to people that would result from fire...
by anarchist
You can't be a true revolutionary if you're too worried about using fire. Run along. Run along.

If you think they're listening to your message or shaming them into relinquishing power is going to work, i have a 1 million dollar bridge to sell you. I'm probably much older than you. You probably have some time to figure out that the people in power aren't going to listen and will ignore you until you die. You won't be naive once you reach 30. Pleading with your oppressors to act in a humane way so it's easier to live with them is nothing compared to driving them out of existence. Fire is supreme.

It's good that your type are virtually always all talk and no walk. Don't gum up a for-real social struggle with your creepy pathologies.

SAN FRANCISCO, California – On Thursday night, an undercover police officer shot a man in the Mission District—reportedly firing three shots in the man’s back. The shooting victim is not in a life-threatening condition. The police officer alleges that the man was about to fire a Tec-9 pistol and claims the shooting was in self-defense. However, skepticism around this police account immediately surfaced in parts of the community due to a history of fabrications police often contrive after shooting incidents, such as the recent case of Alan Blueford.

On Friday night, demonstrators marched through parts of the Mission District smashing bank windows, upturning tables at local “yuppie” restaurants, and throwing paint at a police station. No arrests were made.
