East Bay | Police State and Prisons | Racial JusticeTown Hall for Justice for Oscar Grant, Oakland, 6/13/09: audio
After an introductory prayer by Pastor Gordon Humphreys of Olivet, Minister Keith Muhammad speaks about current issues surrounding the trial of Johannes Mehserle for the murder of Oscar Grant, building police accountability at BART with civilian oversight, the racial profiling of those such as the POCC's JR Valrey who are facing charges from the January 7th Oscar Grant rebellion, the ongoing police harassment in Hayward of those who were on the platform with Oscar Grant on January 1st, and struggle for justice in a state on the verge of bankruptcy due in large part to the huge numbers of people of color incarcerated in California.

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties (batteries), the final five minutes of Minister Keith Muhammad's talk is cut off. Also missing is a presentation by Cameron Sturdevant of the Campaign to End the Death Penalty on the upcoming June 30th public hearing in Sacramento on California's lethal injection. Yvette Felarca of BAMN concluded the Town Hall by reminding attendees to come to Johannes Mehserle's June 18th arraignment at the Alameda County court house.
