Racism is a poison that affects white people negatively, but white people are in a unique position to benefit from it. This contradiction challenges all of us to confront our own feelings about race. How can we move beyond hang-wringing and easily-professed solidarity? How can we be more effective allies? How can we_______? What do words like ally, guilt, privilege, and identity mean to you? Let's re-start a dialogue, and explore what white identity might look like, what anti-racism means to us in this community. Discussion, reading group, planning meeting, curriculum collection...
Requirements: All are more than welcome, but the discussion will be focused towards the experiences of white-skinned people. Bring a book to suggest, a film to share, and a readiness to confront the racism within and in the communities we inhabit.
