Mon Nov 20 2006 (Updated 12/10/06) Request that Josh Wolf Be Released for Thanksgiving is Denied
A benefit for Josh was held at Balazo in San Francisco on December 7th.

On Tuesday, November 21st, attorneys for jailed indymedia journalist and video blogger Josh Wolf appeared before Federal District Court Judge Alsup. They argued for Josh's release from federal prison FCI Dublin, where he has been held for over 90 days. Their request was denied- it appears that Josh may stay in prison until the grand jury to which he has refused to give his video footage from the 2005 G8 protest in San Francisco expires. Wolf's supporters say that the length of his incarceration is virtually unprecedented for a journalist refusing to hand over information to a grand jury. Wolf’s attorneys asked for his immediate release or, at minimum, a furlough for the Thanksgiving holiday. Josh is one of dozens of political prisoners who will not be with their loved ones for the holidays.
