Witness: SF Cops Kill Man Surrendering

by kron4
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- A woman who identified herself as a resident of 672 Larch Way, near Eddy and Buchanan streets where San Francisco police fatally shot a suspect Wednesday night, said the suspect "was holding his hands up surrendering" when he was shot.
Rochelle Terrell said, "They just murdered this dude."

Terrell said her children, ages 8, 9 and 11, were outside playing at about 8:10 p.m. when what police described as a chase of an armed suspect in a stolen vehicle ended outside her home.

"A whole lot of kids were playing outside," Terrell said, adding that her children were terrified.

After the shooting, Terrell said, 10 or 12 officers urged residents to stay inside.

"The police are lined up in front of my door like they're ready to kill everybody, hands on their triggers," she said.

The San Francisco Chronicle of 5/6/04, the printed version of the Chronicle's TV station, KRON, does not have the story, but the online version at
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/05/06/BAG6P6GHVS1.DTL
has the story. This is outrageous. It means that the Feinstein-Boxer-SF Police Death Penalty Lynch Mob has throttled the press in their current war against the anti-death penalty people of San Francisco. Do not ever vote for these thugs and tell them to leave San Francisco today, with their lynch mob, the San Francisco police.

This man was disabled and had prosthetics as the following article from the above online article states:

"Boyd's mother, Marylon Boyd of Oakland, arrived at the scene and accused officers of shooting her disabled son for no reason. She said her son had prosthetics for both legs after both his legs were amputated below the knees."
and
"Maria Oropeza, spokeswoman for the police department, confirmed that the victim was 29 and had "some form of disability'' and that officers recovered two prosthetic legs at the scene."

The witnesses stated the following:
"He put his hands up, and police killed him,'' said Chanel Hawkins, a resident of the complex who said several children witnessed police fire eight or more rounds during the confrontation."

"Another woman who said she saw what happened said the man denied being armed. "He said, 'I ain't got no gun.' They were still shooting him. He didn't have any weapons in his hand, and they were still shooting him.''

An unarmed, surrendering, disabled man in full view of lots of witnesses murdered. That is not justifiable homicide; that is murder. Do you think the latest bunch of bourgeois lackeys sitting on the Police Commission, including election fraud- loving Louise Renne, who as city attorney, covered up for the thugs committing election fraud for her fellow Democrat, Willie Brown, will demand that the murderous cop be tried for murder?

If you want a decent police commission, you demand appointments of people from the communities who are under constant attack by the police and their death penalty senators, namely the workingclass communities. I think Susie McAllister, the mother of one of the girls sexually molested by the police on MLK Day 2 years ago would be an excellent police commissioner, and should be typical of who sits on the Police Commission. See the 5/5/04 Bay Guardian's cover story on the Police Commission, "No Restraint" by Steven Jones and Sitara Nieves at

Meanwhile, stop voting for the death penalty Democrat-Republican Parties. Only the Peace & Freedom and Green Parties are anti-death penalty parties. Marsha Feinland is running for US Senate against Barbara Boxer on the Peace & Freedom Party ticket. See:
