Sacramento + Northern California Anarchist Events Calendar

Disclaimer: The events listed in this email are not necessarily affiliated with each other, the anarchist café or its planners, and in addition, law enforcement and members of investigative bodies such as the FBI are not invited to any of these events. In fact, if you are from any such organization, stop reading this now, it is not intended for you or any other governmental body.

This is a list compiled of events that may or may not be of interest to anarchists. Feel free to come check them out (whether you consider yourself an anarchist or not!).

Upcoming local events:

-Sat, March 19 --- Really REALLY Free Market: Come celebrate the gift economy from 1-5pm at 1911 F street. Everyone is encouraged to bring something special to share with others for FREE. That may include: free items, massages, skits, teach a skill, music, dance, plants and seeds, or gratitude. For more information, contact (916)361-3595 or email lomazzip [at] yahoo.com

-Sat, April 23? --- The Sacramento Anarchist Café is back. Right now it is still in the planning stages, and the date is only semi-confirmed, the second a-café is definitely going to be as exciting as the first. Very little as of now is confirmed, but if everything goes according to plan – the a-café will feature a panel discussion on grand juries, featuring several lawyers and activists who have extensive experience in the subject, in addition to speaker Rod Coronado, a workshop on importance of forest defense, a pirate radio workshop, speaker Kevin Kjonaas from the Stop Huntington Animal Cruelty campaign (SHAC), more musical acts, more free vegan food from Sac Food Not Bombs, more free stenciling, free childcare, tons of books and zines for sale and trade, and several local radical organizations will be present. Want to perform, present, speak, or table at this or a future a-café? Email sactoacafe [at] riseup.net for more info.

-Fri, April 30 --- Sacramento Critical Mass. Sacramento’s favorite rambunctious mass bike ride is back! The ride will assemble at 5:00pm at Cesar Chavez Park (11th + Ist). If you enjoy swarming through the streets with massive amounts of other cyclists, then come check it out! If you want to help flyer, email sacmass [at] hotmail.com for .pdf flyers to print out, duplicate, and disseminate!

Ongoing events:

-Every Wednesday --- Sacramento Anarchist Discussion group meets at 1309 21st St from 7:00-9:00pm every week. Anyone interested in critical discussions on authority, power, and building a society free of hierarchy and exploitation is highly encouraged to come! Every week, we read an article or essay and discuss it and whatever else we’re inspired to talk about. This coming week’s reading is entitled Anarchist Communist Manifesto (available online at: http://nefac.net/node/1216 ) (its short!). We will discuss what we like about it (if anything), what’s wrong with it (if anything), and much more! Come check it out! Bring a few bucks for pizza if you want (there’s vegan pizza available! Yay!). Email sactoacafe [at] riseup.net for flyers and more info!

-Every Sunday + Wednesday --- Sacramento Food Not Bombs serves free hot vegan meals to the community twice a week. The main serving (Sunday) is at Cesar Chavez Park (11th + Ist) at 1:30pm.
