San Francisco Protests the International Monetary Fund
On Friday, October 19th, Globalize This!, students, and other protesters converged near Montgomery BART, in the heart of the financial district in downtown San Francisco to demonstrate against the policies of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Globalize This!, a new grassroots collective that works to promote awareness and take actions against neoliberal policies, sponsored the event in order to show solidarity with the "October Rebellion," which aimed to disrupt the IMF meeting in Washington DC.

Benefit for Oaxacan Resistance
On, October 24th, a benefit was held at Station 40 in San Francisco at 7pm to support the continuing resistance in Oaxaca, Mexico. The newly released documentary "Un Poquito de Tanta Verdad" (A Little Bit of So Much Truth) was screened, accompanied by dinner and refreshments. The proceeds of the evening went to Colectivo Mujer Nueva (Oaxaca autonomous women collective) and VOCAL (Oaxacan Voices Constructing Freedom and Autonomy), an anarchist radio project in Oaxaca.

Antiwar March in San Francisco on October 27th
On Saturday, October 27th, regional and local "Fall Out Against the War" demonstrations against the war in Iraq were held all over the United States. Tens of thousands of protesters gathered in San Francisco at 11:00am at Civic Center Park for an opening rally. At 12:30pm, there was a march to Dolores Park, where there was a closing rally and peace and justice convergence.
October 6–13 is an international week of solidarity to demand that "terrorism" charges against Salvadoran water privatization protesters be dropped. The corporate takeover of the world's water, often aided by repressive US-trained police forces, has been called "the greatest theft of common resources facing humanity and the planet today."

Hackmeet in San Francisco on October 13th and 14th
The Mad Penguins tech user group organized a two-day "Hackmeet" featuring skillshares and workshops for activists, artists and other community members, October 13–14, at New College in San Francisco. Topics included DIY websites, peer-to-peer, pirate radio, net privacy, open-source graphics, audio and video streaming, linux, gender, race and technology, Crabgrass, north-south tech solidarity and more.

Burmese Community Protests Outside of Chinese Consulate
Hundreds of Burmese activists and supporters protested outside of the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco Friday October 5th, to confront the government's support of military oppression in Myanmar. Nyunt Than, President of Burmese American Democratic Alliance (BADA) said the Chinese government should use its influence to stop the killings in Burma. The French government and France's largest company, Total, are also struggling to contain growing criticism of the oil company's record in Burma.

Emergency Demonstration for Mumia Abu-Jamal
On May 17th, the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia heard oral arguments in the case of Mumia Abu-Jamal. A decision is expected sometime very soon. Organizers have called for protests to take place if the Court rules to uphold the death sentence or denies Mumia’s appeals for either a new trial or new hearing the day after a decision - or on Monday if the decision falls on Friday or Saturday.
