Founded in 1957, the San Francisco International Film Festival is the longest-running film festival in the Americas. Held each spring for two weeks and highly anticipated by its loyal, passionate audiences, SFIFF is an extraordinary showcase of cinematic discovery and innovation in one of the country's most beautiful cities. SFIFF59 features 175 narrative, documentary, and short films from 46 countries. The Festival will welcome more than 200 filmmakers and industry guests to San Francisco, including Mira Nair, David Oyelowo, Kate Beckinsale and Tom McCarthy, among many others.
Event highlights include an Opening Night screening of Whit Stillman’s wry Jane Austen adaptation ‘Love & Friendship’; the Centerpiece presentation of James Schamus’ ‘Indignation’, based on the novel by Philip Roth; and the Closing Night presentation of Bay Area filmmaker Jesse Moss’ rousing documentary ‘The Bandit’, about the epic friendship between Burt Reynolds and stuntman-turned-director Hal Needham, running April 21st - May 5th.
