Lani Ka'ahumanu
"Skeletons in Our Family Closet: Bisexual History, Family & Culture - One Woman's Journey from Housewife to the Obama White House"
Lani Ka'ahumanu is often regarded as the strategic political architect of the U.S. bisexual movement. Her journey from a 1960's San Mateo housewife and Another Mother for Peace, to a 1970's out of the closet lesbian feminist student at SFSU helping to found the Women Studies Department took a spectacular public fall from grace in 1980 when she came out as bisexual. She has a 40+ year career instigating and mobilizing social justice actions, campaigns, street theater and cultural events while challenging bisexual invisibility and ignorance within the HIV/AIDS and health industries. She co-founded the first bisexual feminist political action group BiPOL (1983), San Francisco Bay Area Bisexual Network (1987) and BiNet USA (1987). She co-edited the ground breaking anthology Bi Any Other Name: Bisexual People Speak Out, now celebrating its 25th edition.
Please RSVP for lunch by 3/9/16. Cost $7 for lunch, NOTAFLOF
