http://youtu.be/qGHInHeB6TE
This was the first time in 21 years since the end of the apartheid regime that there were two separate Mayday marches in Capetown and around the country. The COSATU leadership has expelled the National Union Of Metal Workers of South Africa and refuses to have a Congress. Workers in Capetown talked about their economic conditions and the struggles of trade unionists and students as conditions continue to deteriorate for working people and unemployed. They also discussed the efforts of the ANC and South African Communist Party to ban NUMSA from marching on Mayday in Durban.
Five unions joined the National Union Of Metalworkers at the Capetown rally and march and other Mayday actions were held
in Durban where eight unions participated in a mass march of 20,000 workers.
