Date:
Saturday, December 06, 2014
Time:
1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Event Type:
Party/Street Party
Organizer/Author:
Nicole
Location Details:
247 Marlow Drive, Oakland, CA

Join FARMcurious to celebrate food, crafting, gardening and community! We will have a DIY food swap with prizes for everyone, delicious food demos to try at home, kids hour, FARMcurious gift faire, and best of all, your ticket supports a local food nonprofit!

Share your homemade food creations at our DIY Food Swap
Bring your jam, hot sauce, cookies, kefir, pickles, kraut or candies. We will reward every guest who brings an item to swap with a gift from the FARMcurious store, AND you take home a fellow maker’s delicious handiwork.

Learn new skills and techniques at our Maker Demos
We have Sean Timberlake of Punk Domestics showing you how to make Duck Prosciutto, Melissa Lavrinc-Smith aka Sommelier to the Silicon Valley Stars sharing the recipe for one of her #fronyardfarmer garden infused cocktails, our own Nicole Easterday schooling you on fermenting vegetables with the FARMcurious Fermenting Set, and more food DIY fun.

Shop for gifts, equipment and DIY kits at our Gift Faire
FARMcurious offers a carefully selected collection of gifts focused on food. We’ll have everything from hip mason jar cocktail shakers, to crafty cheese making kits, cute garden planters and stocking stuffers like art-covered seed packets and ceramic fermenting weights.

Bring the kids for fun demos and activities during our Kids Hour
Fun for all ages during the first hour of the party, including making seed bombs and other fun stuff.

Meet new friends and local urban homesteaders while you sip our Cocktails
Swap stories and tips with other local urban farmers, fermenters and food lovers. Sample wine and other libations to keep the party going.

Support a local food based nonprofit with the purchase of your ticket
Proceeds from this event will go to FoodShift, who are developing sustainable solutions that address systemic issues behind food waste and hunger. Working with the Oakland Unified School District they have recovered 4,100 pounds of food and milk and distributed to 65 families in just six months!
