Please Listen & Share Our Interview of Dr.Lehman Brightman on the Entire History of the Alcatraz Take Over

https://soundcloud.com/united-native-americans/united-native-americans-the-entire-history-of-the-alcatraz-take-over

I would like to share the below e-mail conversation we as United Native Americans had in Hopes of Trying to create "Unity" between iitc & aim about the Possibility of Working together & sharing in the Alcatraz Festivities that the iitc has taken upon themselves to Position themselves as the "Host Organization" out at Alcatraz and have been Exploiting our organization and all the whom were in fact a part of the beginning of the Red Power Movement U.N.A. Founded.

We as United Native Americans would like any and all whom are in disbelief of the Facts of our Issue with both iitc and aim should Not that "We did Not initiate the disagreement and conflict that the iitc and aim created by claiming one of Our Many Accomplishments during Our 45 Year's of Service for Our Tribal Community since U.N.A was Founded here in the San Francisco Bay Area." And with that being said. I personally hope everyone will take this time to Read the below e-mail we wrote in Hopes of Repairing the Damage iitc and aim have done in not wanting to work together.

We will Not be silenced by a Group of Bullies whom have chose to initiate the conflict and continue to be the One's who Divide Our Community. Until iitc and aim Comply with our request to display a Unity, we are Organizing a "Boycott of any iitc and aim lead and or sponsored Event Hosted by iitc and aim out at Alcatraz.

It should also be Noted that Bay Native Circle, the KPFA Radio Program that Airs the so called "Sun Rise Ceremony" and "Un-Thanks Giving" Events out at Alcatraz is out of compliance with Journalism ethics and standards on their reporting of "Accuracy and standards for factual reporting" on the Alcatraz Take Over History and in Choosing to Play Favoritism in whom they chose to Cover in their Role as a Reliable and Acurate Indigenous Community News Source. They are in Fact doing our community a Great disservice and should be taken off the air until they Comply with "Accuracy and standards for factual reporting."

> Esteemed IITC Board of Directors, SF office staff and

>Bay Area Advisory council member (since Bill's first

>message was forwarded to them as well),

> I am forwarding this note to the entire Board of

>Directors, as well the Board members and staff who

>received Bill's first message as it concerns a matter of

>IITC's organization decision making..

> I understand Bill's views re advocating to add "AIM

>WEST" to the co-sponsorship of Alcatraz since he has

>expressed them consistently since he helped to form the

>"AIM WEST" group with Tony a couple of years ago. We

>certainly went through a very similar communication about

>this last year, with no changes made at the end of the

>day.

> However, I also understand and have been clearly and

>directly informed that other IITC Board members and staff

>members (as well as members of the Bay Area Indian

>community and California Indian Nations ) have a

>different view on this issue, and some of them are

>equally as strong as Bill's.

> IITC is not against AIM WEST of any other Indigenous

>organization, nor have we ever taken such a position.

> All IITC Board members and staff are welcome to

> maintain their own political and personal loyalties and

>relationships (or to chose which they do not want to have

>as individuals).

> But these choices do not necessarily and automatically

>translate into IITC's organizational positions or

>decisions. Such matters require collective discussion

>and decision-making, especially when they are

>controversial and involve issues of representation to the

>public which is governed by IITC's Representation policy.

> Back and forth E-mails with a few individuals will not

>suffice to resolve this when there are a range of views

>within IITC . If this issue is so important, we should

> consider it as a formal, well considered, collective

>IITC discussion at the next Board meeting.

> So I will repeat what I said last year on this same

>matter when it was raised: The sponsorship of the both

>Alcatraz events this year (October and November 2009)

>will remain the same as it has been over many previous

>years, with an open invitation for all to attend. This

>arrangement re co-sponsorship of the 2 Alcatraz events

>has worked very well and smoothly, without conflict or

>controversy (IITC and AICA) for many years. This will

> continue to be the case until I am instructed to change

>this position by a consensus of the IITC Board of

>Directors, hopefully in consultation with the staff

>members who are in our SF office and are responsible for

>coordinating the event and representing IITC in the Bay

>Area community. As ED, I am very respectful of their

>work and role in this regard. I am sure the Board

>members are as well.

> I am happy to discuss this at our next Board meeting if

>need be, which is provisionally scheduled for April 2010

>in Hawaii.

> Thanks to all,

> Andrea
