Oakland Fastfood Workers Walk-Out At McDonalds In Nat Action For Wages & Union Rights
Fast food workers at the Oakland McDonalds near civic center went on strike and were joined by other fast food workers and labor supporters.
Also Oakland Musican Boots Riley of "The Coup" joined the protest.
Fast food McDonald's workers walked out in Oakland, California and
were joined by other fast food workers and supporters. This was part
of a national action on December 5, 2013 that brought together fast
food workers who are fighting for a wage increase and justice on the
job with union rights. The median wage nationally is $8.94 an hour
and many workers are living in poverty and are forced to go on
food stamps and in shelters while working a full time jobs.
Trade unionists attended including TWU 556 Southwest Airline flight
attendants. Musican Boots Riley of the Oakland music group
"The Coup" also attended and supported the strike action by fast
