Friends of Thanksgiving
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Friends of Thanksgiving Rides Again!
Santa Cruz --- Once again Friends of Thanksgiving, a community-based coalition with ties to the non-profit, faith-based, and civic sectors, has saddled up to host a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and everyone is invited to join them in celebrating the holiday season.
The event will again be called a “Santa Cruz Community Thanksgiving Dinner,” and will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th. The organizers are asking for community-wide support to make this holiday meal a very special event.
Thanks to the efforts of our entire community, the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium will once again be transformed into the city’s largest dining room. A funding goal of $5,000 has been set for the event and Friends of Thanksgiving is also actively seeking in kind donations and volunteers. Over 1,500 meals were served at each of the previous dinners and the Friends anticipate a similar number this year.
“We are filling a need to provide a hot meal for the community on Thanksgiving Day,” says Spokesperson Steve Pleich. “But more importantly, this is an opportunity to fill everyone with that special warmth that only a truly community event can provide.”
Friends of Thanksgiving asks everyone of good cheer to join them in helping to preserve this uniquely Santa Cruz tradition.
