4 – 6 pm, Tuesday 9/17 County Courthouse Steps ask Congressman Sam Farr to say “NO” to fast-track vote as soon as early October on Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP): Global Corporate Coup.

Demo to protect labor, public health, environment; vs. new international trade pact by multinational corporations, being negotiated in secret by Office of U.S.Trade Representative with other foreign governments.

TPP lets corporations create laws they could never get passed out in the open. Among other things will empower corporations to attack our environmental and health safeguards and free banksters from oversight.

9/17-Constitution Day-restore constitutional role of Congress to “regulate Commerce with foreign Nations.” For more information: http://www.thealliancefordemocracy.org

What is the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP)?
https://www.eff.org/issues/tpp

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a secretive, multi-national trade agreement that threatens to extend restrictive intellectual property (IP) laws across the globe and rewrite international rules on its enforcement. The main problems are two-fold:

(1) IP chapter: Leaked draft texts of the agreement show that the IP chapter would have extensive negative ramifications for users’ freedom of speech, right to privacy and due process, and hinder peoples' abilities to innovate.

(2) Lack of transparency: The entire process has shut out multi-stakeholder participation and is shrouded in secrecy.
