New Pope Linked to S. American Death Squads

by Guy Shucks
I have been researching this guy for all of an hour and I find many reputable sources speaking on this. Then I remembered that years ago at a now extinct blog of mine, I had published something about a Catholic priest presiding over concentration camps and being on trial in Argentina in 2007. I'm really glad I had that backed up because there is only one place online where you can still find it and my own archive gave me the search terms to find it.

Snip: "On 15 April 2005, a human rights lawyer filed a criminal complaint against Jorge Cardinal Bergoglio, accusing him of conspiring with the junta in 1976 to kidnap two Jesuit priests. So far, no hard evidence has been presented linking the cardinal to this crime. It is known that the cardinal headed the Society of Jesus of Argentina in 1976 and had asked the two priests to leave their pastoral work following conflict within the Society over how to respond to the new military dictatorship, with some priests advocating a violent overthrow. The cardinal's spokesman flatly denied the allegations."

"The heads of the Catholic Church participated in the dictatorship. Many priests were chaplains inside the barracks of the concentration camps. We want to point out that there is a sector from the church that didn't have anything to do with the dictatorship, on the contrary they supported us and reported the crimes committed at the time. But most of the representatives from the church participated in the celebration of death and torture."
