The Red Poppy Art House is located in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District as neighborhood micro-center for artistic and intercultural life. The Poppy is an artist-driven organization that seeks to empower and transform society by engaging communities in multi-cultural and artistic initiatives. Over the past ten years, the Red Poppy has become a well-respected name in the Bay Area arts community as an incubator for artists of multiple disciplines. Operating from an urban storefront of 650 square feet, we provide a fertile, informal space for gathering, discussion, and artistic cross-pollination. The Red Poppy is home to over 150 diverse performances, exhibitions, workshops, and artist residencies annually.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, February 19, 2013— The Red Poppy’s new film series, Red Reels, will celebrate Women's History Month with a female-fronted lineup of film and live music. On Sunday, March 3rd Red Reels and the San Francisco International Film Festival are teaming up to present a special program of shorts from the festival’s Global Panorama section. Go around the world with a selection of 2012’s best indie shorts directed by women from Spain, Israel, South Korea, Japan, Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, and the US. From animation to drama, these short films tell tales of love, loss, death, and hope. In addition to the films, YeYe Suarez will join us for a live acoustic set of soulful female vocals, Afro-Latin rhythms, and lyrical storytelling. The Red Poppy Art House is located at 2698 Folsom Street, San Francisco, CA 94110. Doors open at 6:30pm, film at 7pm. YeYe will perform after the first half of the film program. Admission is $5-15 sliding scale. This is an all-ages event and wheelchair friendly.
