Black builders call on San Francisco School District to contract and hire in the 'hood

by KPFA Evening News, 02.09.2013
Rising Sun Developers, a coalition of Black builders in San Francisco's Bay View Hunters Point neighborhood, are protesting their exclusion and the lack of a fair bidding process for contracts to build the new Willie Brown Middle School in their own neighborhood. Unlike the City and County of San Francisco, the San Francisco School District does not have a local-hire requirement that would guarantee contracts for local companies or jobs for local residents, including minorities.
