USPS shutting down within 5 years?
If trends continue the way they are, the USPS could be completely shut down within 5 years, leaving many businesses that rely on the cheap rates from USPS in the lurch.
From the http://www.peacemovies.com web site: 2-7-13 Update: It is now apparent that the Postmaster General is intent on selling off the assets of the US Postal Service, closing most of the mail processing centers around the country and eliminating Saturday delivery as of August 2013. If things continue down this path, it is predicted that door to door delivery by USPS will be a thing of the past within 5 years. This will seriously impact the ability of Peacemovies.com to conduct business as the option of shipping Peacemovies.com booklets to customers for an affordable price and the option of shipping newsletters to individual customers will be eliminated. It will cost a minimum of $12 to ship a small package via UPS, compared to about $2 to ship the same item via USPS (or in the case of a newsletter, $0.45 via USPS). For more information on this, listen to the 2-6-13 Flashpoints program on http://www.kpfa.org. More information to follow in the coming weeks.
