Prisoners' strikes, revolts against police brutality, the struggles of women and immigrant workers, struggles for the right to vote, and the Occupy Movement together expose not only the racism and sexism pervading the ongoing presidential election campaigns and U.S. society in general, but how far we are from real democracy. The challenge by Black masses to the hollowness of U.S. democracy has always been central to Marxist-Humanism. This session explores how Black and Latino masses today put “American Civilization” on trial.
