Sheriff Mirkarimi Reinstated; Labor Prevails

by Power to the People
Labor prevailed in the litmus test vote at the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on October 9, 2012 to reinstate Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi with 4 of 11 votes, with Christina Olague (District 5 Fillmore and Haight-Ashbury), Jane Kim (District 6 Tenderloin, South of Market), David Campos (District 9 Mission, Bernal Heights) and John Avalos (District 11 Excelsior, Ingleside) when the capitalist class mayor Ed Lee needed 9 of the 11 votes to prevail.

The most notable character of the 200 plus speakers at the public comment before the vote was workingclass, and there were at least 4 speakers representing labor who reminded the supervisors that it is the San Francisco Central Labor Council, which supported the reinstatement of Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, that provides campaign workers to most of their campaigns. All 4 of the supervisors who voted to reinstate Sheriff Mirkarimi need the workingclass vote to stay in office.
