64 years after the passing away of Gandhi, known as Mahatma (a great soul), his inspired movements for non-violence, civil rights, and religious tolerance continues to be relevant in this modern age. November 17 @ 8pm and Nov. 18 @ 4pm, Abhinaya Dance Company of San José, the Bay Area’s foremost South Indian classical dance company, will premiere its 2012 production of GANDHI; directed and choreographed by Mythili Kumar and Rasika Kumar. GANDHI will feature the Abhinaya Dance Company of San José, accompanied by live music by master musicians: Asha Ramesh (vocalist and composer), Malavika Kumar (nattuvangam), N. Narayan (mridangam and kanjira percussion); Shanthi Narayan (violin); Ravi Gutala (tabla), Peter Van Gelder (sitar); Ashwin Krishnakumar (flute). Abhinaya Dance Company welcomes families to this production.
