Nigerian Ambassador Adebowale Adefuye continues to lead the charge to identify strategic methods to encourage awareness and participation within the African Diaspora in the United States. Now is the time to join the convesation and embrace cultural identification, technical education, and agriculture economic development. Black Agriculture continues to be the change many desire.

The Nigerian government and the African Union Mission have pledged further supports to the African Union's in the Diaspora.
These pledges were made by the Nigeria's Ambassador to the United States, Prof. Ade Adefuye and the Permanent Representative of the African Union Mission, Ambassador Amina Salum Ali, during the briefing on the African Union's Diaspora Summit held on Monday at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington DC.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Adebowale Adefuye said that the federal government of Nigeria would continue to throw its weight behind the African Diaspora Union to ensure that the continent maintains its leadership position.

The Nigeria's Ambassador also advised members of the African Diaspora Union to identify strategic methodologies in order to encourage awareness and participation within the African Diaspora in the United States.

He also urged the Union to develop an action plan to move forward and foster innovative and sustainable collaborations on African Diaspora initiatives in the United States as well as on the African continent as a whole.

Adefuye, however, commended the Constituency For Africa (CFA), the organizers of the event for bringing together key stakeholders within the African Diaspora in order to dialogue on effectiveness strategies to address mutual areas of collaboration on an action plan and key initiatives in response to the outcome of the recent African Union's Diaspora Summit.

He pressed further that Nigeria remains committed to absolute peace in Africa as part of its efforts within the United Nations peacekeeping moves. Also speaking, the Permanent Representative of the African Union Mission, Ambassador Amina Salum Ali, said that her office would submit the recommendation of the Union to the African Union Commission for further reflection and necessary actions.

Ambassador Ali noted that the agenda of the recent Africa Union's Diaspora Summit held in Johannesburg was set to reflect all the reports from the consultative meetings that led to draft declaration and programme of action.

She continued that what achieved from the Summit would pave the way for bright future for both Diaspora and Africa, stressing that it would also provide the frame work for all the Diaspora to continue to strategize on what means and methods to make it reality.

The AU representative also said that the Summit decisions is reflected in the declaration as an important document that provide the political commitment from African leaders intent of both the African and Diaspora governments to chart an implementation roadmap for everybody to follow.

Ambassador Ali pressed further that the African Union Commission has scheduled the implementation Roadmap with respect to the legacy projects with World Bank collaboration, stressing that the Commission is set to move very quickly by having an expert meeting to prepare technical background papers to submit to Member States before the end of this year.
