by Khubaka, Michael Harris (blackagriculture [at] yahoo.com)
Free Yoga in Victory Park plans to expand outreach and expand community support to provide essential tools for beginners to try yoga, and for experienced yogis to expand their practice. Yoga Month provides the perfect opportunity to discover yoga’s simple, unique health benefits firsthand. September is California Wine Month and our industry friends bottle award winning Zinfandel cultivars, paired nicely with the bounty of the "Greatest Garden in the World" the California Central Valley.

Stockton, CA ~ Every Saturday morning at 9 am you a dedicated group of Yogis and new students enjoy an amazing natural setting between the rose garden and the water fountains surrounding Free Yoga at Victory Park. Yoga Instructor Allison Boyd leads the morning practice and she has a vision to introduce and expand Yoga as part of preventive health and wellness education.

Saturday, September 29, 2012, 3pm – 9pm, King Island Resort Marina, Stockton, California “Yoga and Zin” is a family friendly event to highlight National Yoga Month and California Wine Month and support Free Yoga in Victory Park. We feature a VIP Yoga Workshop cruise and wine tasting. The reggae sounds of Zion Roots will fill the warm delta breeze while we dance under a full moon.

Throughout the California Central Valley, many Yogis will join the millions of people across the nation practicing Yoga throughout September 2012 to celebrate National Yoga Month.

Since 2008, Yoga Month has expanded into a nationally recognized awareness campaign and national observance, contributing tools to inspire health and harmony in life through yoga.

“Experience is a powerful teacher,” explains Yoga Health Foundation founder Johannes R. Fisslinger, “so we decided to give people across the country the opportunity to try yoga for themselves.”

The numerous benefits of yoga include stress management, increased flexibility, relaxation, stronger muscles and connective tissue, among many others. A regular practice encourages an overall well being that many yogis from all walks of life can attest to.

These immense health benefits of yoga have been proven countless times, yet the Yoga Health Foundation challenges people to experience yoga for themselves and share its positive physical and mental effects.
