On September 7th, 2012, 19 SEIU 1021 members were arrested barricading the entrance to "Friday Night at the deYoung," a weekly art event at San Francisco's deYoung Museum in Golden Gate Park, in support of museum workers engaged in bitterly contested contract negotiations for the past year.

SEIU 1021 members barricaded the entrance to the deYoung Museum and faced arrest to get museum managers to listen to museum workers and return to the bargaining table.

Stephen Lockwood, senior art registrar and leader of the bargaining unit at the deYoung Museum thanked everyone who had turned out to support the 95 museum workers organized in this chapter of SEIU 1021

Supervisor John Avalos praised museum workers and said this is a fight they must win together.

Supervisor Eric Mar said he is a former 1021 shop steward and there's no place for union busting in San Francisco.
