On September 6, former State Assembly candidate Joseph Rosas called on President Obama to release Bradley Manning from incarceration. He asked that the President be true to his own words spoken in May 2011 about the importance of freedom of information. His speech was part of a demonstration outside the Democratic campaign office in Menlo Park, CA.

Bradley Manning is a United States Army soldier accused of having passed classified material to the whistleblower website WikiLeaks. He has been charged with a number of offenses, including communicating national defense information to an unauthorized source and aiding the enemy, a capital offense.
