Come to a rally and protest in support of Bradley Manning in Menlo Park, hosted by Occupy Redwood City (ORWC) and Peninsula Direct Action!
The Obama 2012 HQ in Menlo Park (known as the Democratic Volunteer Center) will be holding a DNC Convention viewing party at 4 PM on Sept. 6, as are all other Obama campaign HQs.
This is why the Free Bradley Manning folk have chosen Sept. 6 as their day of action and therefore there is no better time to gather for our protest than at 4 PM outside the Menlo Park Obama HQ!
This is event is the second event in PDA's kickoff week, and ORWC formally endorsed this protest at our GA last week. Occupiers from other Peninsula cities will be coming to support PDA and ORWC, and members of other groups we've spoken to personally have expressed their interest in coming.
Show up with signs that says "Free Bradley" or "Whistleblowing is Not a Crime." If you would like to bring some prepared words to read out about Bradley Manning, Wikileaks, and the Obama administration's crackdown on whistleblowers, please do!
DETAILS --
This will be a non-violent protest. We will not be looking to get arrested. We will not make an attempt to physically "Occupy" the inside of the building, but we will try our best to deliver a letter to the staff members inside and request that the letter be sent to President Obama at the main campaign headquarters in Chicago.
The letter will its demands clear: that President Obama pardon PFC Bradley Manning, accounting for both his abusive treatment in a Quantico prison cell and the president’s own unlawfully prejudicial remarks that Bradley "broke the law."
Be prepared: we may march for about half a mile (ten minutes) to a second rallying point!
