The movement to stop threats of eliminating 220,000 living-wage jobs and closing 3,700 post offices including four in SF is growing across the country. The majority of post offices threatened are in poor neighborhoods and rural areas. Help to form new plans of action to follow the successful march and occupation of the Civic Center Post Office ( see http://tinyurl.com/7sjh7vk ).

Actions coming up:

Sun. Sept. 9, 11AM - 4PM, near McDonald’s on Fillmore at Golden Gate, SF. Leafleting the Fillmore Sunday Streets” festival against closing the Visitacion Valley, Bayview, McLaren and Civic Center post offices.

Thurs. Sept. 13, 11 AM-1 PM, Old City Hall, 2134 MLK Jr. Way, at Allston, BERKELEY. Pack the special Berkeley City Council meeting and tell the Postal Service representative: “Stop the sale of Berkeley’s historic Main Post Office for private profit.” The contract to sell the Berkeley Post Office and 76 other prized post offices nationally, is in the hands of real estate mega-firm CB Richard Ellis, whose chairman of the board is UC Regent Richard Blum, husband of Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
