The Human Be In: An Experience in Transforming Space and Creating Community
This year, 2012, from Friday, September 14th to Sunday, September 16th, we will gather in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. We gather as free people on the land and under the stars to share with each other. All are invited to participate--to share skills, teach workshops, play music, make art, heal, build, cook, and be together. While what we learn from one another will last and transform the world as we know, there are some more permanent transfomations at hand. On Friday, September 14th, we will gather starting around 3 p.m. at the Haight Ashbury Neighborhood Council Recycling Center, also a native plant nursery, community garden, and composting facility called Kezar Gardens, which, like Haye's Valley Farm and the Free Farm, is being evicted, and so we will transform it into an ecology center. We envision a space for a tool lending library, seed libraries, a library of books on ecology and permaculture, and an informational resource. We see this space filled with sustainable tools and demonstrations of ecologically regenerative technologies such as solar ovens.
On Saturday and Sunday, we will move on to sheet mulch: a process by which we create top soil through layering organic materials. We invite you to this Human Be In to share in the abundance and creation: 780 Frederick Street, Golden Gate Park, Friday, September 14th at 3 p.m.
