This is a personal account of events in Bolivia from 1964 to 1980. She tells of a political struggle of a people who refused to be crushed under the boot of military dictators who too often have been financed, coached and manipulated by the United States government. It is the story of a people who pledge in their national anthem to, "Die rather than live as slaves." It describes one of the most convulsive periods in their history and how Frances Payne saw it unfold.
