Pastors For Peace Caravan To Cuba >> U.S./Canada Border Crossing
by BCANC
Thursday Jun 28th, 2012 11:14 PM
Picnic and Rally
SUNDAY JULY 1, 2012
Peace Arch Park US-Canada Border
White Rock, BC / Blaine, WA
12 noon

Cuba solidarity activists and caravan supporters from the Lower
Mainland, Vancouver Island and Washington state will join the Caravan
at the border challenging the U.S. blockade on Cuba by supporting the
border crossing. We had a major victory last year when after being
told repeatedly by U.S. border officials they would not allow the aid
to cross, an emergency media campaign, legal challenge and extended
demonstration on both sides of the border forced them to allow the aid
through that day! We need a strong presence at the border to ensure
our aid will cross again!
*Please forward widely*

Join us for 2 Lower Mainland events to send off the Pastors for Peace
Caravan to Cuba!

Part of the 6-stop B.C. tour to End the U.S. Blockade on Cuba!

WHAT IS THE PASTORS FOR PEACE CARAVAN TO CUBA? This summer for the
23rd time, the Pastors for Peace Friendshipment Caravan to Cuba will
challenge the United States government’s economic and travel blockade
on Cuba, that has been imposed on the Cuban people for over 50 years.
The Caravan will travel through up to 140 cities in the U.S. and
Canada, raising awareness about the U.S. blockade and gathering
humanitarian aid to take to Cuba. After two weeks of travelling
through the U.S. there is a blockade busting border crossing into
Mexico. Caravanistas will then travel through Mexico and depart for
nine days in Cuba, participating in a variety of educational and
cultural events. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Pastors
for Peace Caravans to Cuba. Over the past 20 years thousands of
participants and over 30,000 tons of humanitarian aid have been
brought to Cuba, building a ‘people-to-people’ foreign policy based on
mutual respect,
solidarity and friendship between the people of the U.S., Canada and
Cuba. This Caravan also commemorates Rev. Lucius Walker, Jr., the
founding director of Pastors for Peace, who died peacefully in
September 2010.

In British Columbia, Canada, the BC Aid Network for Cuba is
coordinating a 6 stop tour along with various local organizations,
which will include aid collection and events in Comox, Nanaimo,
Victoria, Kamloops, Vancouver, as well as the border crossing where
organizers from across BC and Washington State will converge to ensure
the aid crosses into the U.S. Many of the tour stops are in new
locations which have recently become active with the Caravan!

All BC events will feature special guest speaker Bill Hackwell from
Oakland, California!
