Trade unionists and community activists presented examples of malfeasance and corruption by the managers and some supervisors as well the Mayor of San Francisco. At a United Public Workers For Action UPWA forum on Saturday June, 23, 2012 labor and community speakers reported on the systemic corruption in San Francisco city government and the role of the Mayors and many supervisors to cover-up the corruption including contracting out/outsourcing at San Francisco General Hospital, systemic discrimination against senior employees, retaliation against worker whistleblowers and malfeasance by San Francisco Human Resources Director Mickey Callahan who is a former SEIU official. While hundreds of thousands of city tax dollars are being spent in a retaliatory political witch hunt against suspended Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, the real corruption and malfeasance in the City Of San Francisco is being covered up. Dr. Maria Rivera and Dr. Derek Kerr talked about their whistleblowing about the malfeasance by managers at the Laguna Hospital. The city fire them for whistleblowing and kept the managers.
Lois Scott, a retired SF City Planner and former president of IFPTE Local 21 reported on the illegal activities of San Francisco manager of the Human Resources Department in using city funds to lobby for anti-labor proposition C. Mayor Ed Lee refused to prosecute and take action to discipline the ex SEIU official Mickie Callahan.
Cecelia Jaraslawski discussed the systemic discrimination against senior employees and the blatant violation of workers rights and Federal law
SEIU union activist and rank and file leader of SEIU 1021 talked about the outsourcing of food service to Sadexo and the resulting poor quality of the food for the patients at the hospital.
Lynn Gavin and Park Merced resident and housing activist discussed the illegal activity of SF supervisors to push through a development agreement that will displace 1,500 residents and the effort to evict them. She also discussed the supervisors who are seeking to destroy the Sunshine Commission so there is no oversight whatsoever.
